Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026 · applies to the hifaaz app and the website daar.studio/apps/hifaaz
This is a translation of the German terms of use (https://daar.studio/apps/hifaaz/nutzungsbedingungen/). If the two versions differ, the German version prevails.
1. Scope and provider
These terms of use apply to the hifaaz app for iOS and Android and to the website daar.studio/apps/hifaaz. The provider is:
daar.studio
Lass Khoshnaw
Tapachstr. 71A
70437 Stuttgart
Germany
Email: hifaaz@daar.studio
2. What hifaaz offers
hifaaz is an app for memorizing the Quran: you listen to verses, recite them, test yourself and review on schedule.
- The app is free, contains no ads and needs no account.
- We keep developing hifaaz and may change, add or discontinue features. There is no entitlement to particular features or to the app being available at all times.
- Should we offer paid extra features in the future, we will point this out clearly before any purchase. Payment will then go through the App Store or Google Play, and additional terms will apply.
3. Right of use
You may use hifaaz free of charge for your own non-commercial purposes – including in teaching, for example at the mosque, in Quran school or in the family. This right is non-exclusive and non-transferable.
You may not
- sell or rent out the app or its content, or include them in your own offerings,
- query our server or the content providers’ servers outside the app, read them out automatically or overload them,
- circumvent protective measures or modify the app so that it displays content in a distorted way.
Anything the law expressly permits (for example under Sections 69d and 69e of the German Copyright Act) remains unaffected.
The name, logo and design of hifaaz and our own texts are protected and belong to daar.studio.
4. Content and sources
- The Quran text and the Quran script come from the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex. Translations, tafsir, transliteration, word meanings and recitations come from QuranEnc.com, the Quran Foundation and everyayah.com, the division into pages and juz from Tanzil.net. The full list is in the app under Settings → About hifaaz → Sources. The rights to this content remain with the respective rights holders; you may use it within the app.
- hifaaz is not an official app of the Quran Foundation, QuranEnc.com or the King Fahd Complex.
- Translations and tafsir convey the meaning of the Quran as the respective translators and scholars understand it. They do not replace the Arabic text. We take over the texts from the sources without changing their content and check them carefully. Even so, we cannot rule out errors entirely.
- If you notice an error in the text, a translation or a recitation, please write to us at hifaaz@daar.studio. We will look into it promptly and, if necessary, pass it on to the source.
- hifaaz is a learning aid. Statistics, forecasts and strength indicators are estimates. For correct pronunciation (tajweed) and for having your memorization checked, we also recommend a teacher.
5. Sharing verses
With “Share” and “Share as story” you can pass on verses as text or as an image. Please share them respectfully and do not remove the source of the translation. The platform you share on has its own terms.
6. Your data
Your learning progress and your settings stay on your device. How the app handles data is described in the privacy policy: https://daar.studio/apps/hifaaz/privacy/
Because there is no account, we have no copy of your progress and cannot restore it. It is lost if you delete the app or switch devices without a backup. Use your device backup for this (iCloud or Google).
7. Content from the internet
The app loads recitations and some content from the internet, partly from third-party servers. If these servers cannot be reached, individual features may be temporarily unavailable. Downloaded surahs play without a connection.
8. Links to other services
The app links to websites of other providers, such as the donation page of Islamic Relief, Instagram and TikTok. Their operators are responsible for their content. Donations go directly to the organization; we receive no money and no information about them.
9. Liability
Since we provide hifaaz free of charge, we are only liable for intent and gross negligence. This does not affect our liability for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, or for fraudulently concealed defects.
10. App Store and Google Play
If you download hifaaz from the App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
On Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms of use and are not responsible for the app or its content. We are the contact for any questions and claims regarding the app.
11. Changes
We update these terms of use when the app or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies; the date at the top shows when it was last updated. Changes apply only to the future.
12. Governing law and dispute resolution
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer whose habitual residence is in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country remain unaffected.
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
13. Contact and language versions
We answer questions about these terms of use at hifaaz@daar.studio. The current version is always available at https://daar.studio/apps/hifaaz/terms/. The German original is at https://daar.studio/apps/hifaaz/nutzungsbedingungen/; the German version is legally binding.
